What's the difference between OXO-Biodegradable and Biodegradable bags? Oxo-Biodegradable bags:

  • Are made with recycled content and may be recycled
  • are made from a base product that is a manufacturing by-product so it avoids waste
  • are designed for landfill disposal, which is where most doggie end up
  • will not emit any methane, unlike pure biodegradable bags tht do in some circumstances
  • degrade into CO2, water and biomass (releasing less CO2 than a leaf)
  • meet US Standard Guide ASTM D6954-04 - Oxo-Biodegradation degradation
  • degrade in all places biodegradable bags will, including compost environments, however the reverse is not the case. (Oxy-biodegradable bags do not need a biologically active environment to begin degrading)
  • reduce landfill volume, greenhouse gas effects, and organic waste

DOGIPOT bags avoids “Corn Controversy”:

Oxo-Biodegradable bags are developed from a new formula. The new bags no longer contain a corn starch additive, and the new formula does not utilize food-based films.  Our new formula avoids the “corn controversy” issues. Here are some of those issues our new bags avoid:

  • Biodegradable/Hydro-Biodegradable bags may emit methane in a landfill
  • Biodegradable bags are can only be manufactured from pure material, not recycled material. Oxo-Biodegradable bags come largely from recycled material or manufacturing waste.
  • They are not part of the deforestation of land, rain forests and wetlands to grow “product crops.” Such deforestation iscausing enormous carbon emissions from stored carbon in this land, and increasing pesticide and fertilizer pollution in waterways.
  • They avoid the need for farmers to shift food crops for people and livestock to product crops.
